City of Garland Announces January Arts Events

Jan. 12-Feb. 4 “Tantalus” by Garland Civic Theatre

Granville Arts Center – Small Theatre

Anton Korff, aide to a mysterious ailing recluse, who is reputed to be one of the world's richest men, interviews a young woman who has applied for a position as nurse for the aging multi-millionaire. Many strange events and tantalizing developments cloud Korff’s intent until the final, surprising moments of the play unfold. January 20 Winter Gala by MillerMuller Ballet

7:30 p.m. Plaza Theatre

MillerMuller Ballet presents their first annual Winter Gala! The program opens with Chopin Reverie, a one-act ballet set to the dreamy music of Frederick Chopin. MillerMuller Ballet’s artists will also present a collection of variations from several well-known ballets, in addition to new choreography by several company members. This performance also features Guest Choreographer Alexis DeNure, former dancer with the Jose Greco Company. Ms. DeNure will grace the stage with the elegance and excitement of Spanish classical and folk dances to warm the coldest winter night. Tickets: $10-15 at 214-861-7221. January 21 XD2 Winter Gala

The beloved Garland Square Pickers presents the 10th Annual Jim Paul Miller Memorial Bluegrass Show, featuring bluegrass performances by local musicians, promoting traditional bluegrass. Tickets: $5 at the door. Donations accepted as well.

Fog, Francie and their servants set out on an 80 day vacation, but Fog and Francie match the description of the local bank robbers with a handsome reward for their capture!
