FAITH IN PRACTICE 25TH ANNIVERSARY GALA
HOUSTON, TX – On Friday, October 18, Faith In Practice, a national nonprofit committed to serving the poor of Guatemala through integrated medical missions, will host their 25thAnniversary Gala at the Hilton Americas-Houston. The theme of this year’s gala is “By Faith.”
For more than a decade Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital at Arlington (BSW Arlington) has been a significant contributor to Faith In Practice, donating supplies, medicines, and sponsoring many of its practitioners to serve in Guatemala each year. This year, BSW Arlington is the signature sponsor for Faith In Practice’s 25th Anniversary Gala.
BSW Arlington which specializes in comprehensive treatment for orthopedic and spine disorders, offers both outpatient and inpatient care for conditions ranging from back or neck pain to complex spine and back surgeries. The hospital extends its mission beyond the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to Guatemala, serving those who otherwise would not receive care. BSW Arlington orthopedic surgeon Dr. Mark Woolf, will be one of the evening’s featured volunteers along with his wife, Mrs. Debra Woolf. The Woolfs travel to Guatemala at least three times each year with orthopedic teams, and Mark serves on Faith In Practice’s Board of Directors and Quality Committee.
The Gala honors Mr. Norman and Mrs. Donna Lewis, whose guidance and commitment has helped Faith In Practice grow from a small nonprofit to an elaborate network providing continuous medical care to those in need in Guatemala. The event will also feature Faith In Practice volunteers Dr. David and Mrs. Bette Chenault, Mr. James and Mrs. Lucy Parker, and Dr. Mark and Mrs. Debra Woolf, who have served on medical and surgical missions year after year and become tireless leaders of the organization. Mr. Armando Najera, long-time community organizer, will be a special guest. As in past years, the goal of the 25th Anniversary Gala is to raise money for the much-needed medical, surgical, and dental care that Faith In Practice teams provide to the poor of Guatemala. The Gala is made possible by event chairs, former Texas State Representative and incoming Executive Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs for the University of Texas System, Dr. John Zerwas and Mrs. Sylvia Zerwas.
While the event will celebrate the contributions of our special guests, it will also give attendees the chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of the Guatemalan patients who depend on the medical services offered by Faith In Practice volunteers. Gala attendees will have the opportunity to purchase unique artisan items from Guatemala in the event Mercado, as well as the chance to win fantastic bid board items. Proceeds will go toward the life-changing medical mission of Faith In Practice in Guatemala.
