Downsizing Seminar
Moving is a huge step and often times this transition from a family home to a smaller community requires selling the home and downsizing – a scary task for those who’ve lived in their homes for decades. Being proactive before the move can really make all the difference. Realty experts can advise you on what comparative homes have sold for in your area. They can also help you de-clutter and stage your home both inside and out for the best presentation. When it comes to moving into a new home, many times buying new pieces of furniture for a smaller place can add to the excitement and enthusiasm of the change. At some senior living communities, like Spectrum Retirement, we have Move-in Coordinators who offer a free consultation and work with you to understand what is most important to bring to your new apartment. After visiting you in your current home, the coordinator will then go with you to take measurements in your new Spectrum apartment to help decide how your things will fit perfectly into your new space. Move-in Coordinators can even help with the proper timelines for making moving arrangements - which can really help de-stress the move. Once the move is complete, the fun can begin. Quite literally. Each Spectrum property has a Director of Fun and new resident orientation, and a session with the head of each department in the community, are also important. The orientation allows the resident to meet the leadership team, meet fellow neighbors and answer questions that they may have in a warm and friendly environment. We also try to pair new residents with people of similar interests like golf, knitting or cooking and encourage residents to get involved in activities immediately.
